Sahith Theegala has quickly established himself as one of the bright young stars in professional golf. In less than three years since his professional debut Sahith has already climbed as high as 11 in the world rankings. His combination of an exciting, risk-taking brand of golf and his warm charisma are making him a fan favorite on the course.
Born in Southern California to Muralidhar and Karuna Theegala, who had both immigrated from India as young adults, Sahith took up golf at an early age. In high school, he was a four-year varsity starter and his team won or shared the league title all four years.
At Pepperdine University, he was named to the all-conference team as a freshman. He followed that up with a sophomore campaign that resulted in all-conference first-team honors for a second year in a row, and made it three years in a row after his junior season. He sustained a wrist injury before what would have been his senior year, and redshirted before coming back for a triumphant senior season in which he was named national player of the year and won the prestigious Fred Haskins, Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus Awards.
Sahith made his pro debut in June 2020 at the Lone Tree Classic, tying for third. He had enough points the next year to qualify for the Korn Ferry Tour Finals, where he earned his PGA Tour card.
In September 2023, he earned his first PGA win at the Procore Championship, cementing his place as one of the top young Tour pros to watch!
